Dear Guides,

Here is the info for your presentation on Tuesday. Please memorise the script and visit the website to familiarise yourself with the questions and answers.

Instructions for Guides
Step 1a: Setting up
One Guide to approach teacher and request for teacher to help set up laptop.
Hi Mr/Ms/Mrs X, can I ask for your help to set-up the laptop please?

Guide at the laptop will visit the following website: http://holidays.quiz.kaboose.com/60-what-s-your-earth-day-iq

The other Guide will start with Step 1b.

Step 1b: Introduction
Good morning teachers and fellow Queenswayans. Today QSS Guides are in-charge of your reflection period. We are here to bring you fun activities as we celebrate Earth Day 2010.

There are 3 parts to today’s programme.

(The Guide who has finished setting up will write on the whiteboard – Word Search, Quiz & Reflection)

First we will do a word search with a partner. Next we will test your understanding of the environment through a simple quiz. Your form teachers will then follow-up with a reflection.

We hope that you can cooperate with us so that we can enjoy this session together.

Step 2: Wordsearch
We will start our first activity. We will distribute the wordsearch now. Please collect one piece for you and your partner.

(Guides distribute wordsearch)

Ok everyone, is there a copy for each pair?
(check for response)

You have 10 minutes to complete this activity. Please pass your worksheet to us when you have finished.

The first 3 pairs to get all the words right win one Wii token per student. Your time starts now!

(Guides to time activity)

Time is up everybody. We have our three winners. (Guides announce the names and give out one Wii tokens each)

Step 3: Quiz
Now we will proceed with the quiz. There are 10 questions in this section. If you think you know the answer to the question, kindly raise your hands and I will select the lucky student. Please do not shout out the answers as it will be disqualified.

Are there any questions? (check for response)
Let’s begin with the quiz!

(Guide who set up the computer will control the mouse)

(Guide who is presenting will read the question from the screen and read the options available. She will select students to answer the questions)

Step 4: Conclusion
We have come to the end of our session. You have been a wonderful audience. Before we leave we would like to leave this question for your reflection – Who is responsible for the environment? Why?

Thank you for your time. We hope you have enjoyed this session.

(Guide who has presented will go to the form teacher)
I hope you are pleased with my presentation. If you think I’ve done a good job, can you sign on my badge certification slip please? Thank you Mr/Ms/Mrs X
